Let's Eat : KAZOKUTEI Japanese Udon & Soba - Restaurant Review

by Panada Mokapun

KAZOKUTEI Japanese Udon & Soba @ Siam discover's the 6th is the restaurant that offer the Japanese noodle calling "Udon" and "Soba" and serves it in the huge bowl. if you want to come here. it's located next to "Madam Tussaud". So, you can look for Madam tussuad that would be easier.

Last week, I found this restaurant's 50% discount from Oishi Brand's facebook. So, I went there immediately to taste it and start writing my first blog. If you want some discount, just print it out.

As you see in the menu above, most of dishes here are noodle. Some menu, you can choose between Udon noodle or Soba noodle but some you can't. Anyway, there are still  rice menu and appetizer for people who don't want noodle.

KATSU CURRY UDON - 199 ฿ (100 ฿  with 50% discount)

Start with the first bowl,Katsu Curry Udon is a big noodle and fired pork with curry sauce. It's served in a huge bowl and I compared between a bowl and a 10-coin like this picture. Its taste is good- a chewy noodle, a crispy fired pork and rich curry sauce. but you have to eat quickly because if it cold, noodle will be sticky.

NABEYAKI UDON - 229 ฿ (115 ฿ with 50% discount)

Second bowl is Nabeyaki Udon, Big noodle with Tempura, soft-boiled egg, mushrooms served in hot clay pot. when it's served, soup still boiled. This bowl you can choose either pork or beef. Its soup is sweet and its noodle is softer than the first bowl ,so you can swallow easily.

KAZOKUTEI SOBA - 239 ฿ (120 ฿ with 50% discount )

The last bowl is Kazokutei Soba, Soba noodle with sweet tofu, Tempura, seaweed, soft-boiled egg served in a huge bowl. This menu you can choose either Udon or Soba. Its soup is sweeter than Nabeyaki and Soba noodle is too soft in hot soup. So I prefer Udon to Soba.

KAKIAGE - 69 ฿

A recommended appetizer, Kakiage, is mix Tempura with Tempura sauce. It's crispy and tasty. but it has a lot of oil. and if it's cold, it'll not tasty anymore.

Mochi Ice Cream - 29฿
A dessert, Mochi ice-cream, is a milk and chocolate ice-cream covered with Mochi flour. it's very tasty. It will melt in your mouth. I love this!! But it has only 2 flavor, the others is out of order.

Pros:
  • They make Udon noodle and Soba noodle in original Osaka style.
  • Their service is quite good, their staffs pay attention to customers.
  • They have a lot of discount.
  • Not crowded because this restaurant isn't well-known now.
Cons:
  • There were more out of order things.
  • This branch is small. there are only 7-8 tables.
  • This branch has a bad location because it's small and "The ninth cafe" conceals it.

Price per person : about 250
how to go : Easiest BY BTS. It's near BTS Siam.

Restaurant Rate :
  • Food     : 4/5
  • Price    : 3/5 (without discount) 4/5 (with discount)
  • Place    : 3/5
  • Service : 4/5

All in all, if you are looking for a big meal and love to eat noodle especially Japanese noodle, this restaurant will be a good choice for you.
